In the event that no candidate attains this majority in the first round, subsequent rounds of voting will be held until a candidate emerges with an absolute majority. Four candidates have formally submitted their candidatures for the office of IPU President:

1.2.1. Mr. Jacob Francis Nzwidamilimo Mudenda, Speaker of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, submitted              his candidature on 29 June 2023.

1.2.2. Ms. Catherine Gotani Hara, Speaker of the Malawi Parliament, submitted her candidature on 15              June 2023.

1.2.3. Ms. Adji Diarra Mergane Kanouté, nominated by the President of the National Assembly of                    Senegal, submitted her candidature on 10 June 2023.

1.2.4. Ms. Tulia Ackson, Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania,                        submitted her candidature on 16 June 2023.
