Health & Development Tanzania (HDT) is a local not-for-profit non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in 2004. It was formally known as Human Development Trust formally addressing many issues of development including Poverty reduction, HIV and AIDS, Income generating activities etc. As a result of internal review and reflection, the organisation has renamed its self from Human Development Trust into Health & Development Trust.

This change goes hand in hand with more focusing of its interventions from disease focused to client focused. The objective of the organisation is to promote health rights as a priority for all Tanzanians including vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in society. With this objective HDT is committed to contributing to the broader national health and development strategies in promoting economic growth and reducing poverty.
