The Reggae Veteran Singer, Cocoa Tea, Dies At 65yrs

Reggae icon Cocoa Tea has passed away at the age of 65 after battling cancer since 2019. Born Colvin Scott, the renowned Jamaican singer-songwriter breathed his last on Tuesday morning at a hospital in Florida. In the days leading up to his passing, he was suffering from pneumonia, his wife, Malvia Scott, confirmed to Jamaica Gleaner. Cocoa Tea, best known for hits like Rikers Island, leaves behind a lasting legacy in the world of reggae music.

“I got a call early this morning to say that he [Colvin] had been transferred from the facility to the hospital … which is like five minutes away … because he was vomiting," Malvia told the outlet. Malvia Scott revealed that Cocoa Tea was initially diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019 but had been battling pneumonia for the past six months, which further complicated his health in his final days.
