"Wajukuu watajua kwamba babu yao alishinda kaburi lake," anasema Bw Kickham

Mzee wa umri wa miaka 89 nchini Canada amegongwa vichwa vya habari nchini humo baada yake kujichimbia kaburi.

Mzee huyo bado yuko buheri wa afya.

"Huwa napenda kuchimba," Jimmy Kickham, kutoka kisiwa cha Prince Edward Island, aliambia CBC News.

Ameongeza kwamba anajivunia kukamilisha mradi huo wake wa kibinafsi.

Bw Kickham, ambaye anamiliki kazi ya ujenzi, amekuwa akichimba makaburi ya wengine pamoja na mitaro kwa zaidi ya miaka 60.

"Siku moja, niliamua kwamba nikifanikiwa kutimiza miaka 90 ningejichimbia kaburi langu."

Bado ana afya nzuri na atatimiza umri wa miaka 90 siku ya Alhamisi.

"Huwa napenda kuchimba. Ni moja ya mambo ambayo yamo kwenye mwili wake. Ni kazi tu. Pesa.

Nilikuwa nachimba kila walichotaka nichimbe, ninaweza," aliambia shirika la utangazaji la Canada.

Bw Kichkam bado huwa anfanya kazi, akitumia trekta alilonunua miaka 45 iliyopita.

"Si jambo la ajabu kwangu kuchimba kaburi, ni kawaida. Nimeyachimba makaburi mengi, Mungu ndiye ajuaye," anasema.

Hata hivyo anaeleza kwamba ilichukua muda kwa familia yake kukubali mpango huo wake.

"Nilienda kwa padri kwanza na kisha kwa msimamizi wa mazishi na kupata vipimo, ingawa tayari nilijua vipimo kutokana na makaburi niliyoyachimba awali," anasema.

Anataka kuzikwa kitamaduni, ambapo sanduku la msonobari huwekwa kaburini mapema kabla ya maziko yenyewe.

Eric Gallant, mfanyakazi katika kanisa la St Alexis, Rollo Bay, anasema hajawahi kushuhuria kisa kama hicho awali.

"Kitu pekee ambacho sasa hakipo ni jeneza tu," anasema.

"Na mimi!" Bw Kickham aliongeza upesi.
